During the month of July, the La Habra Teens Against Vaping youth coalition participated in a spokesperson training, hosted by Nicole Morgan and Ignacio Burgos, Program Coordinators from the California Youth Advocacy Network (CYAN). In this training, coalition members learned how to craft their message by pairing facts and personal stories to their presentation to decision makers. Coalition members participated in a breakout room activity, where they played the role of Oreo cookie advocates. In the breakout rooms, coalition members connected their knowledge of Oreos and personal stories with what they learned during the training to advocate that Oreos are the best cookies for everyone. Coalition members expressed that they enjoyed this training and feel ready to present to decision makers about their concerns regarding the harmful effects of tobacco use in their community.
