We are excited to announce that CAP OC has recently been awarded the Elevate Youth California Grant of $1 million to be awarded over three years. The allocation, part of a larger grant awarded to community-based youth organizations across California, will be used for providing youth substance abuse prevention services in the Orange County community which CAP OC serves.
“We are immensely grateful for this grant which will help the youth in our community,” said Gregory Scott, President & CEO of CAP OC. “In these uncertain times, we are committed to serving this community and meeting the needs of youth, giving them a voice to help prevent substance use, and ultimately, a better tomorrow.”
The grant comes from Elevate Youth California, a project of The Center at Sierra Health Foundation under contract with the California Department of Health Care Services. Nearly $29.7 million has been awarded to 32 community-based and Tribal organizations throughout the state of California. Funded by revenue generated by Proposition 64, which legalized adult non-medical use of cannabis in California, awarded partners will provide youth social justice, peer support and mentoring in low-income communities of color, including LGBTQ and Tribal communities. Partner organizations will work with youth ages 12 to 26 and in urban and rural areas of the state.
