Our Youth and Family Programs (YFP) are the frontline defenders of this mission, offering a lifeline to families and individuals striving for stability and success. Through a combination of services for individuals at any stage of life—kids to older adults alike—YFP is transforming lives and uplifting communities throughout Orange County.
Stephanie’s* Story: Empowered to Thrive
Since she was just 5 years old, Stephanie* has been an active participant in our youth programming at Southwest Community Center. From the moment she joined, it was clear that she carried incredible potential. However, like many children navigating life’s challenges, Stephanie initially struggled with shyness and confidence in her academic abilities.
Meanwhile, her mother, a dedicated single parent working long hours at a local salon, did everything she could to provide for her daughter, but balancing work and supporting schoolwork was difficult.
Over the years, we have witnessed Stephanie blossom into a self-advocate and a leader in our space. Through our Empowered2Grow/Thrive curriculum, she has gained vital skills in mindfulness, emotional awareness, identity exploration, and community building, giving her the tools necessary to recognize her strengths, express herself, and develop a sense of belonging.
As we grew our program, Stephanie also continued to grow. Navigating new spaces, she now had the support to tackle any challenge. When she shared that she had been experiencing bullying at school, Stephanie chose to speak up, knowing that she has a safe space to regulate, reflect, and feel heard. Though it was difficult for her to use calming techniques in that moment, the next day, she returned with a new perspective.
Stephanie told us she had dreamed of a future where she and the other kids became best friends. And despite her fears, she was ready to step into that vision with courage and an open heart.
Stephanie’s journey is a powerful testament that with the right support, youth don’t just adapt to change—they rise, thrive, and lead.
Comprehensive Programs for Each Generation
YFP offers a variety of programs tailored to meet the needs of everyone, ensuring each participant receives the support and tools necessary to thrive in Orange County.
- Financial Empowerment – Workshops and one-on-one financial coaching on budgeting,
saving, and debt management. Helping participants build and improve their credit to achieve long-term financial stability and prosperity. - Workforce Development – A job readiness coaching program with a focus on self-empowerment, career exploration, and interpersonal skill development.
- Empowered Youth – Youth oriented curriculum offered annually to empower young community members, helping them achieve their goals.
- Mental Health Services – including individual counseling, parenting classes to support young parents, family stabilization services to alleviate immediate needs and financial stress one may face, and more, focusing on eliminating barriers to a brighter future.
- Health Services – Offering Medi-Cal and CalFresh enrollment support, mobile wellness clinics to provide comprehensive health screenings, access to nutritious food, and more to sustain families in times of need.

Our approach is holistic and empathetic, ensuring that every resource we provide addresses the deeper root causes of their struggles. By combining practical support with emotional and mental health services, YFP empowers participants to grow with confidence and hope for a brighter future.
