Introducing the OC Food Bank

At Community Action Partnership of Orange County (CAP OC), we’ve witnessed the incredible impact of the OC Food Bank, a lifeline for families across the county. Each year, we’re proud to provide over 24 million pounds of food to those in need. But the OC Food Bank is more than just a place to pick up groceries. It’s a center for hope, connection, and transformation.

From monthly food distributions at over 250 partner agencies to our nutrition classes for seniors and the fresh produce we grow at the Giving Farm, the OC Food Bank plays a vital role in nourishing both the body and the soul. But what truly sets it apart is the way it helps families not just survive but thrive.

Carla’s Journey: A Path to Hope

Carla* first came to the OC Food Bank in search of something many of us take for granted—peace of mind about where her next meal would come from. She was struggling, like so many others, to make ends meet.

When she arrived, she wasn’t just offered food, she was offered a lifeline.

Through the OC Food Bank, Carla learned about CAP OC’s support programs and began her journey to a brighter tomorrow. Once connected with one of our CalFresh Enroller she was able to apply for food assistance, easing the burden of shopping for her family. But the support didn’t stop there.

Carla was also connected to services that would help stabilize her life—family counseling, housing navigation, and guidance through challenging times. For the first time in a long while, Carla felt a sense of relief and hope. The OC Food Bank had become her entry point not only to food, but to a whole network of resources designed to help her build a stronger future.

The Ripple Effect of Support

The impact of the OC Food Bank goes far beyond the food we provide. It’s a place where neighbors in need find a community of support and a path forward. For Carla, that meant receiving the resources she needed to regain stability and begin envisioning a brighter future.

While the OC Food Bank is known for feeding families, it’s also a hub for so much more. We offer direct food assistance, yes, but we also provide education, counseling, and vital programs that help lift people out of poverty. By meeting the immediate needs of those we serve, we set the stage for long-term growth and success.

As we continue this important work, stay tuned for more stories and updates from the OC Food Bank throughout the year. We’ll be sharing even more success stories and ways you can join us in making a difference in the lives of Orange County families.
