Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (NEOP) Champions for Change
The Orange County Health Care Agency subcontracts CAPOC to provide NEOP services. All services are provided free of charge to qualifying organizations in low-income communities. Below you will find detailed information on some of the services provided in the past.
* As of October 1, 2017, we will only be providing NEOP services in the cities of Anaheim and La Habra. Please contact us for nutrition education referrals for other Orange County cities.
NEOP – Events
Provides nutrition education at community events, school events, health fairs, and other qualifying locations.
NEOP – Peer Educators
Trains community leaders to provide nutrition education classes and encourage healthy changes in their communities.
NEOP – Rethink Your Drink
Provides nutrition education on healthy beverages and encourages the consumption of water at community events, school events, health fairs, and other qualifying locations.
NEOP – Faith-Based
Provides support to local faith-based organizations to encourage the faith community to implement new ways to make healthy changes.
The St. Joseph Health System Foundation provides funding for CAPOC to lead this program, encouraging the improvement and well-being of communities surrounding two elementary schools in Buena Park.
Through an initial grant from Kaiser Permanente and the help of many other organizations, two community gardens in Stanton are growing and engaging community members to grow their own food.
St. Jude Hospital provides funding for CAPOC to deliver nutrition education and promote healthy lifestyles as part of the Move More, Eat Healthy Campaign in North Orange County.
Hoag Hospital provides funding for CAPOC to implement nutrition education and promote physical activity in Garden Grove and Westminster.
